Hi All:
I grew up working with some frameworks at least from 2001 onwards we had some framework or the other. I have realized the importance of frameworks quite early in my career but failed to understand how we should choose some and why we should ignore some. Which framework is good for me ? I am trying to explore this from quite some time and will publish the results very soon.....

In the meantime - there is a smart PHP framework called yii. I am no PHP guy but I have started taking some interest in PHP now since that looks like the need of the hour , as far as my company requirement goes.

Maybe it is true that modern day frameworks make your life a bit easy. For instance yii quickly creates a directory structure for you which is very decent. If you can design your database well it writes those optimized queries for you. If you know PHP well then you can really move at a great pace and code your web based application quite fast making sure that it looks good too. It also generates CRUD code for you. You can override what you want, you can remove what is not required....

I gave one presentation on yii recently at my Startup Stragure since we are trying to zero down on a PHP framework for one of the upcoming projects. I really liked what I learnt and that left me thinking if we have something in J2EE framework like Spring framework which does the same for you - which led to ROO . . . . .

Below are four 10 minutes videos which will give a quick introduction to yii and it's preliminary capabilities...advance videos and blog entries on yii coming soon . . .
